FYDEM NICARAGUA PROJECT, 2011-2014
FYDEM (Formación y Desarrollo de las Mujeres) was a project funded by the European Union, in partnership with IFOA and the University of León in Nicaragua.
The general objective of the project was to promote and sustain the social inclusion, training and occupation of the women of the Department of León in Nicaragua, who live in conditions of vulnerability, through the design and implementation of Local Training Agreements (PFLs) of gender, and the increase in the demand for employment and entrepreneurship through the valorisation of local resources.
The specific objectives:
- Improve the quality of public policies on education, training, gender and labour policies, supporting public and private institutions, acting on the quality and intensity of policies and tools that progressively reduce social and occupational differences and extend entrepreneurial and associative opportunities for women;
- Adopt mechanisms that increase the demand and supply of employment and entrepreneurship;
- Carry out an international partnership that consolidates the relationship between the socio-institutional systems of the EU and Nicaragua;
- Carry out processes of social cohesion and social inclusion that reinforce NSAs in the promotion of local development
ILS LEDA worked for objectives 1 and 2, with particular reference in:
- Building capacities of female professors of the University, the municipality of León and civil society in order to analyse and detect the opportunities of economic development of the department
- A training-action, through which the most promising potentialities of the department for the placement of women in the labour market and in self-employment were detected
- The mapping of the needed skills for the placement of women in the labour market and in self-employment, as an input of the Training Pact
- The design of a Front Office for Women of the University of León and the start-up assistance, to provide the necessary information and technical services for the placement of women in the labour market and in self-employment, also through the collaboration with local service providers
