The 2017 INTERNATIONAL AWARD ON LOCAL DEVELOPMENT is an international competition for the recognition of relevant research contributions and successful initiatives in promoting and supporting local and territorial development, particularly important and distinctive at international level.
It aims to encourage scholars, experts, young researchers, public institutions, public and private actors and businesses to improve awareness of territorial development policies, by focusing on analytic tools and processes, and enhancing the capability to diagnose and compare them at international level.
The origin of this award is directly related with an international network of researchers formed around the International Association of Economists of Latin Languages (AENL) whose president is Professor Gioacchino Garofoli (Professor at the University of Insubria, Italy). Other associations were heavily involved in the previous editions: Italian Association of Regional Science (AISRE), French Language Regional Science Association (ASRDLF), Portuguese Association for Regional Development (APDR), and the Spanish Association of Regional Science (AECR).
